Dry needling is a modern, Western medical technique used primarily by physical therapists, chiropractors, and other musculoskeletal providers.
It also uses thin needles, but the goal is different:
- Needles are inserted directly into tight muscles or trigger points (“knots”).
- The purpose is to release muscle tension, reduce pain, and improve movement.
Dry needling is based on anatomy, neurology, and pain science rather than traditional energy pathways.
