Coconut Milk Chai Tea Latte (Paleo and Dairy-free)
Cook time: 10 mins Total time: 10 mins Serves: 1
A warm and decadent drink for a blustery winter day. Milk can be substituted for coconut milk, and you can sweeten this drink with honey, maple syrup, or your choice of sweetener.
Ingredients
-
1 Chai tea bag, or your choice of loose leaf tea (about 1 tsp)
-
1 Cup of boiling water
-
Honey, maple syrup, or your sweetener of choice. To taste.
-
½-3/4 Cup coconut milk (I use full-fat coconut milk. It can be watered down if preferred, or whole milk may be substituted)
-
Dash of cinnamon
Instructions
-
Pour the hot water over your tea bag and steep for 4-6 minutes in a mug.
-
While your tea is steeping, heat your coconut milk in a saucepan until it just begins to steam.
-
Once the coconut milk is warm, use a milk frother, hand blender, or stand-up blender to froth the milk. (I like to pour my warm milk into a glass measuring cup and froth with my hand blender in there. I find it splashes less in a more narrow container).
-
Once the coconut milk is frothed, gently pour it over the tea.
-
Finish with a dash of cinnamon on top, and enjoy your coffee house chai tea latte from the comfort of your own home!
