Chiropractic care for Plantar Fasciitis
Have you been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis, and are frustrated with the pain? Chiropractic adjustments of the feet and ankles can help!
Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the soft tissue in the arch of the foot, and most typically presents as heel pain that is worst in the morning. There are many bones and joints in the foot and ankle that all need to be moving properly for correct motion of the foot to occur with each step. When this range of motion is decreased due to misalignment of joints or tightened soft tissue, inflammation and pain may develop.
Chiropractic adjustments are not just for the spine. Any joint in the body can be assessed for proper motion, and adjusted if needed. It is common for joints in the ankle and foot to be restricted in someone with plantar fasciitis. Adjustments help restore this motion and take the stress off of the heel.
In addition to adjustments, other therapies may improve the pain and inflammation of plantar fasciitis. Ultrasound, a deep heat therapy, is used to break up adhesions in the muscle and fascia tissues. This is great for localized areas of tightness throughout the arch of the foot and in the calf muscles. Rocktape may also provide great support for the arch and speed up healing time.
